What is Experiential Education?

Experiential learning is learning through doing. It is a process through which individuals construct knowledge, acquire skills, and enhance values from direct experience. Experiential learning occurs when individuals engage in some activity, reflect upon the activity, derive some useful insight from the analysis, and incorporate the result through a change in understanding and/or behavior. What experiential learning does best is to instill a sense of ownership over what is learned. (Association of Experiential Education, 1995)
